Every successful story features a dynamic duo with their ideas awaiting their moment to shine. And as you can imagine, that was also our scenario. 

A few summers ago, our colleagues and Co-founders, Nikola and Marko, decided to establish a tradition that would keep them fully included in every aspect of their startup. They were thinking about face-to-face interactions, the chance to discuss ongoing matters, and brainstorm improvements, all without excessive paperwork.

So, what did they do? 

They boldly took the plunge, heading straight to the swimming pool. No laptops, no papers just two determined minds, a pair of swimming trunks, and of course some cups of beer. 

Since those beginnings, our team has grown. Now, our nest is conducted with over ten marvelous individuals, and guess what? That tradition remains one of our all-time favorite team activities.

During the last week of each month, we gather together, ready to reflect on the previous month’s achievements and challenges we have had. 

To capture everyone’s insights, we use Metro Retro – an application that allows us to privately write down our thoughts on the latest happenings. You know that people in the IT industry use sticky notes a lot! Well, that is the case with us also. 

We’ve become quite professionals in using sticky notes. 

The green sticky notes represent the gems of successes, completed tasks, well-deserved kudos, technical advancements that fuel our team’s growth, and many more. They serve as uplifting reminders of our achievements and the positive energy that move us forward.

On the other side, the red sticky notes highlight areas where we can improve ourselves and our daily activities. Whether it’s acquiring new technical skills, visiting more fairs and conferences, meeting new people, investing in coffee devices (yes, this has a priority on our to-do list for next month), or organizing engaging team gatherings, these notes represent innovation and continuous development.

We nurture this process by giving importance to each thought and encouraging diverse perspectives and creative thinking in our team. It’s incredible seeing how each of us can bring unique ideas to the table. This is a great way to conclude that we think differently but still similarly which is definitely a feature of an extraordinary team. 

Once we’ve written down our thoughts into those sticky notes, it’s time for a collective brainstorming session, a lively group call where we reveal our notes to everyone on the team. We dive deep into the details while opening passionate discussions explaining our thought processes, sharing our perspectives, and prioritizing our objectives for the coming month. 

This meeting is formed with a lot of laughter and fun. But besides that, this tradition is about making meaningful decisions and taking decisive actions to elevate ourselves as a team.

Our monthly tradition empowers each team member to contribute to our collective satisfaction, fostering an environment brimming with creativity, transparency, and a profound sense of friendship.

We firmly believe this is a great way of crystalizing our ideas into actions. And as we love to say, this is just one of our superpowers!
